I would like a week away at the Gaia spa in Byron Bay please. A hot stone massage and a vichy shower treatment would also be much appreciated. Oh and a year’s worth of weekly manicures and monthly pedicures. What else … maybe a full-body peel. Not sure if they actually exist, but I’d like one all the same. And another bottle of that heaven Hawaiian fragrance, Kai. And some of those lovely little scented candles by Mor. Or the big fat juicy Diptyque ones. Some more Stila Kitten eyeshadow. And a dark circle cream that actually works. But most of all, I would love to take the whole of next week off work to laze around doing big fat gorgeous nothing. Thank you.
Just found this little gem of a snippet in the January edition of British Vogue (pictured here) … “Prevent a sagging jawline by doing these exercises: … Redefine the chin area: push your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Repeat action over two minutes. … Tip your head back, look at the ceiling, then make a chewing action. Drop your head down, then repeat action over two minutes.”
It’s right about now that most of us start to feel the party-season bloat. We’ve been champagne-ing and canapé-ing every day for the last few weeks - and now it’s finally catching up with us. Well, it is with me at least. Problem with party season is the vicious cycle: you’re out late drinking; you have some midnight munchies to soak up the alcohol in your system; you wake up full but fuzzy so you have something cheesy-carby; you end up eating haphazardly all day until you’re out and it starts all over again … How you start your mornings sets you up for the rest of the day. Recent research has shown that having eggs at breakfast not only fills you up for hours, but also leads to healthier eating choices for the rest of the day. I tried it out yesterday. I made a spinach and goat’s cheese omelette for breakfast, after which I felt full and satisfied for ages. I later had a super-healthy veggie-based lunch and dinner, and just one fruit&nut snack in between. Talk about textbook eating. But the big test: out last night, all I felt like drinking was one glass of wine. Yes, one glass! It’s so nice waking up feeling healthy again. Well, I’m off to crack some eggs now.
I saw an advance screening of The Holiday last night. You know, the new chick flick with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. All I can say is, thank god we and Hollywood have Kate. She is just so beautiful in such a real way. She has curves, but healthy ones. She has lines, but happy ones. Cameron Diaz - despite having a freak-of-nature body - is also one of those comfy-in-their-own-skin kind of girls. She’s never too vain to make scrunchy or strange facial expressions. Which I love. So many actresses seem to think about how they are looking before they emote. Or maybe the botox is getting in the way. I don’t want to get on my high-horse about botox/etc too much - I do think it’s a personal decision for each woman to make - but I am loving the fact that there are some cool chicks in movie-land proving that scrunchy, lined faces can be the most beautiful kind.
