There was an article in yesterday’s about how podiatrists are worried about the new 15-centimetre heels coming through. Basically, they say you’re asking for bunions and calluses in the short-term. Not to mention risking ankle sprains and fractures. And, in the longer-term, lower back damage and shortened leg muscles. Which is why, ironically, you’ll never see foot models wear high heels (except in ads) – they usually just flip-flop around in Dr Scholl’s. Anyway, my favourite part of the article was this quote from Brendan Brown, vice-president of the Australia Podiatry Association: “They’re crazypants … they really are very, very dangerous.” Gotta love a doctor who can talk in terms we can understand.
