For those of you who have just gone through your year 12 exams - what do they call them now? I can’t keep up. It was VCE back in my day. Or was it HSC? Oh dear, showing my age. Anyway, congratulations and I have so much respect and admiration for you. Because you’ll know what a torture year 12 is. I have never worked as hard as I did back then. I think I actually went a little loopy. I wrote so many practice exams that my hands actually bled and I had to sit my real exams with band-aids all over my hands and fingers. And, yes, I was slightly OCD. I also managed to fit in two or three aerobics sessions a day (Jane Fonda or Step, natch). And all this before I had discovered coffee. I’m still in amazement at myself. I will give some credit to oats - I ate a bowl of porridge every morning, which fuelled me for almost the entire day, give or take a bowl of pasta here and there.
But I think one of my biggest secret weapons was The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Bath and Shower Gel. Seriously. I washed with it every morning and no matter how nonexistent my sleep had been, I’d always emerge from the shower feeling revived and ready to hit the papers again (we didn’t work on computers in ye olde days, okay?).
You can imagine the flashbacks I’m having now that The Body Shop has brought back the Pink Grapefruit shower gel. You know how scents from your past always take you right back to how you were feeling then? Well sometimes pink grapefruit triggers in me the just-slightly-stressful sensation that my whole life is hinging on how well I perform in the next hour. But mostly, it makes me feel happy. It’s so uplifting, you can’t help but feel you can take on a day, no matter how little sleep you’ve had or how many deadlines are coming up. It’s available from today, for a limited time, along with a body butter and body scrub. Range priced from $9.95.
