Happy Halloween!

October 31, 2007

pumpkin.jpgYou know I like to work a day’s theme back to beauty. So I was thinking about pumpkins. As you do. Which made me remember a brand that I and my inner organic-loving hippie are becoming increasingly interested in: Ilsci.

ilsci-pumpkin.jpgIt’s a herbal-remedies-based range from Hungary that completely knocks on the head the notion that natural can’t be active. For over 50 years, Mrs ‘Ilsci’ Molnar has been cooking up potent skincare recipes rich in natural cosmeceutical-strength ingredients - AHAs, antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E. Some of the intriguing mixes include Rose Petal Cleansing Milk, Sour Cherry Whip Moisturiser and the Seven Herb Mask. And the one for today: the Pumpkin & Orange Cream Gel, a super-hydrating and -nourishing number. For more information and Ilsci salon details, check out True Solutions. Definitely worth a look-see if you’re up for some serious skincare without a side-serve of chemicals.

opi-sapphire.jpgOh and obviously, you could commemorate Halloween by treating yourself to a black manicure. Although I’m loving navy nails at the moment - either O.P.I’s Light my Sapphire or Russian Navy. A little more subtle and sophisticated than black, which is looking a little too unpolished in a pre-rehab Lindsay way these days.

apivita-sachets.jpgPS - I’m on holiday for a few days. Am doing a little roadtrip around the Yarra Valley and then in Melbourne for Derby Day. (Yep, which will swiftly be followed by some kind of detox). Just some of what I’m packing: a gorgeous vintage netting-and-ribbon hat thingie, a stack of those nifty little Apivita Express sachet masks ($6.90 each, available from Adore Beauty), and model Alek Wek’s autobiography (out tomorrow). Full reports next week. Be good tonight!

PPS - I will post November’s Beauty Feature and Beauty Expert early next week.
