As you may have noticed in the photo from yesterday’s post, I have peachy toenails. Nothing so unusual about that, I always seem to have some kind of coral on my toes - there’s something about it that just says happy-feet, don’t you think?
Anyway, what you wouldn’t know from looking at the photo is that, for the first time in my life, I got acrylic nails. Although it’s not actually technically an acrylic - it’s a polyurethane base, to be precise - but you get what I mean. It’s called Bio Sculpture and it’s free from formaldehyde and toluene, two chemicals commonly found in permanent nailcolour formulations. And two chemicals we can really do without. It means, among other things, that there’s no odour, which is also good for the technician (I always wonder about those poor women working away in some nail bars with fumes forever in their faces – surely a future lawsuit waiting to happen).
Some other great things about Bio Sculpture … it looks like real polish, just better because it doesn’t chip … it’s strong but flexible (so it’s perfect for yoga - no snapping nails during your sun salutations – don’t you hate that?) … it comes in a zillion different shades … you can also buy each hue in a take-home regular polish for DIY top-ups between salon refills … you can easily and gently soak it off yourself at home … it costs around $60 and lasts for two weeks (manis) to four weeks (pedis).
See Bio Sculpture for more info.
