I was just looking through the Missoni winter 08 collection and it reminded me of everything I hate about winter – beauty-wise, that is. The models look like they should be tucked up under a doona (Missoni zig-zag print, of course) with a steaming mug of Lemsip. Did the makeup artist take the ‘winter beauty’ brief too literally? Because everything about the pale skin, feverish cheeks and can’t-be-bothered hair says flu to me. Of course, we all know there are going to be many times this winter when we’re dribbling and wheezing and very unpretty – but do we have to be reminded of this reality? Especially with autumn looming (although not that my Sydney summer has seemed like summer). It’s enough to make me want to run away to Bali.
Well, lucky then that I have a ticket in my hot little hands for Ubud. Yep, I’m outta here. I’ll be back on the 3rd and by then will hopefully … 1) have clear, glowing, caramel, youthful skin (I don’t ask for much)… 2) smell like some lovely coconutty vanilla cocktail … 3) have found myself a nice Balinese daybed … 4) have finished the pile of books that has been stacking up beside my bed for months … and 5) be finally able to stand on my head.
PS – don’t forget, mark Feb 24th in your diary. That’s the day the new Chanel colour collection hits counter and if you don’t buy the Blue Satin nail polish, I’m not sure we can be friends anymore. No seriously, buy it: it’s one of this year’s beauty musts.
