I’m Indian and have a problem finding makeup – are there any products that cater for my colouring?

I’d start by heading straight to Myer. If you only need a little concealer to even out skintone and cover dark circles, check out Becca’s range of 30-ish shades – there’s sure to be one for you. (If your local Myer doesn’t stock Becca, click here for other locations). If you want full-faced coverage, pop over to the M.A.C counter, where you’ll find a wide range of foundation styles and finishes in shades that go through to the dark end of the spectrum (unlike many brands that only sell the lighter end in this country).

M.A.C also has great pigment-rich lipsticks – deep reds and berries would likely suit you gorgeously. But then you can also go neutral if you’re wanting a more tonal look – again, M.A.C’s lip colours are so pigment-dense that you’ll get good colour payoff. You might just need to add a slick of clear gloss on top to add some textural interest – as seen here on the heaven Aishwarya Rai.

If you wear blush, again good-quality pigment is essential - otherwise it will just disappear into your skin. You can pretty much wear anything from bright shades to bronzes, which can be used to either highlight or contour your features.

Finally: eyes. I love that traditional Indian kohl-rimmed eye look – and the Stila Kajal Eye Pencil ($34 from Mecca Cosmetica) is inspired by this. As well as the must-have Onyx, it comes in some beautiful jewel-like shades (such as Amethyst, Emerald and Sapphire), which look amazing as they brighten eyes and set off darker features. Etch around the lashline, blend out a little to soften, and then finish with lashings of black mascara.
