Once again I’m running late for work (I will post Be Genki winners tomorrow, I promise!) And once again I’m running out of time to do things like shave my legs and do a mini facial, which used to be a regular part of my freelancing days. Which all begs the question, how do women manage to look groomed at all when they: work, have a relationship, have kids, have friends, have a dog, do errands, etc. Does beauty just keep tumbling down the priority list? I really am desperately hoping not. Timely then that I’m working on a beauty feature all about getting ready in a rush. Timely also that I just ran out of mineral makeup yesterday. I just can’t afford the time for all that shaking and buffing and checking in the mirror in natural light. It was a sign that it was time to rethink my foundation. So I’ve just gone back to a tinted moisturiser. Revlon has a brilliant tint-like foundation coming out in late September (sorry that’s teasing, I know, but it’s worth the anticipation) – it moisturises, provides great coverage, and even comes with some broad-spectrum sun protection on the side. Anyway, all will be revealed in the October issue of Madison. Speaking of which, seeing as the deadline for that is, oh, a week ago, I’m off to work.

I can totally relate to lacking time Kat! When I was working I barely gave myself enough time to shower and dress let alone applying a full face. Now that I’m home with a baby I struggle to find a few minutes to apply a full face. My favourite foundation at the moment is Pur Minerals 4in1 and Eles minerals powder compact. Both foundations are mineral powders and take seconds to apply and give a good coverage

Alas, I have no babies, but my struggle is between sleeping those few extra minutes in the morning, or sacrificing some time in the bathroom! I generally choose to forego the sleep (and those who know me will know that’s pretty amazing…I’m pretty much the laziest woman in Queensland, which would put me high in the running for laziest worldwide) - I figure that ten minutes less in bed will be painful in the short-term, but a face full of bad makeup will bug me all day.

By the by, I find mineral makeup much quicker and easier to apply than liquid foundation (is it weird that I walk around the house while I’m buffing it in with my kabuki?). But yes, tinted moisturiser is a dream when you’re in a time-crunch - they are generally formulated to be quite neutral, which is heaven for me because the bane of my life is products that are too pink or too yellow, even if they’re the right shade.

It bugs me too if I don’t get my makeup right for the day. When I was working I used to put my bedside clock forward in time to trick me into thinking I was waking up later. Silly I know but it seemed to trick me everytime! I just have so much more confidence when I’ve put the effort in. I’m like you Katherine, walking around the house with my mineral powder compact in one hand and the kabuki in the other. Usually I’m at the bathroom mirror with bubs on my hip and gloss in the other hand. hehe:)

Oh you girls have made me ashamed of my laziness! I’m going to try to put in a couple of hours tomorrow preening. So much to do - the shaving, the nails, the fake tan … maybe I need a whole day!
