Thirteen Sleeps to Go!

August 26, 2008

This week is not the happiest week chez Kat. I am on the verge of the flu. I have spots. And I have to pay my BAS, my accountant’s invoice, two phone bills, water rates and strata fees. Joy.

So there I was last night, under a very dark cloud under my doona on my couch, eating my weight in the Lindt dark chocolate in the mint flavour (warning: don’t go there, you’ll never stop), and getting depressed by the car crash that was Australian Idol. (Why oh why do people not know that they sing like a dying cat? It’s beyond).

And then I heard it. Da-na-na-na. Na-na-na. Yes, that’s right: the return of Beverly Hills 90201 (if only they let you da-na-na on Idol, I would win hands down). And then there was Kelly, staring at me from the screen, looking young enough to be asked for ID at the Peach Pit After Dark. And then a whole lot of faces not so familiar to me – although I intend them to become my new best friends from September 8th.

But of course, it’s all about Brenda. AKA The Girl I Always Wanted to Look Like. I blame Shannen Doherty for much of my fixation with dark hair. Not to mention my tendency to play Losing my Religion over and over and over every time I go through a break-up. Damn you, Dylan. Hmmm, 90201 may be responsible for more than just my haircolour hang-up.

  1. Oh my God, I feel you on this one! The kids these days don’t know what they’re missing…..well, actually, now they’re not missing it anymore. Which is swell.

My favourite part of the theme song was the bit where there was a bit of a badass electric guitar riff when “Brian Austin Green” came up in the credits. I don’t know why, because he wasn’t exactly the bad boy. Oh well. Good times.
