Reader of the Week #6

August 29, 2008

Name: Emma
From: Gold Coast (I don’t exactly fit in amongst the tanned blonde masses!)
Beauty Signature: Clear freckled skin and long auburn hair.
rotw6-cintia.jpgBeauty Icon: Cintia Dicker. A Brazilian model who embraces her long red hair and freckles. I think we have a similar skin tone so I can get great ideas for makeup looks.
All-Time Top Buy: Benefit Bad Gal Mascara ($36 from selected Myer stores). Sometimes this is the only makeup I apply all day. But it really opens up my eyes in the morning.
rotw-crabtree-rosewater.jpgOther Beauty Essentials: I am obsessed with my night ritual. I dab Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil ($16.95 from Myer and health food stores) around my eyes and lips, smooth over Garnier Stop Anti-Agieng Night Cream ($14.95 from pharmacies), rub Pawpaw ointment on my lips and smother Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Hand Therapy ($22.95 from Crabtree & Evelyn) on my hands and elbows.
Best Beauty Bargain: My best bargain is free! When I wake up I wipe my face with a face cloth soaked in warm water. It exfoliates my skin and makes me feel so fresh.
Biggest Beauty Splurge: I have super thick hair, so I don’t wash my hair as often as most. I use Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo ($34 from Mecca Cosmetica stores) twice a week and follow it with Crème de Coco Conditioner ($44), which leaves my hair feeling smooth and silky.
Top Beauty Tip: I’m all about staying natural. So I firmly believe your natural hair colour will always suit you best.
rotw-mac-parfait.jpgLatest Trend to Love: For a night out I’ve been creating a smoky eye with purple eye shadow (M.A.C Eye Shadow in Parfait Amour, $32 from M.A.C). The purple shadow makes my green eyes pop and is a funkier look for evening.
Dirty Beauty Secret: I never follow the 6-week hairdresser rule! I’m lucky if I get my haircut every 6 months!

PS – winners of last weeks True Solutions sunscreen competition: Emily Hudson, Susan Brown, Amy Chhour, Kylie White, Maree McClenahan, Beth Healey, Melissa Bentley, Rebecca Quartermain, Sonia Cattley and Michelle Harney. Congrats! You will have your new summer face very soon.

  4. I agree with all the comments. I think red hair, pale skin, freckles look gorgeous as well. (Much more interesting than the blonde tanned look in my opinion) I also love to see redheads in pink! I think Nicole Kidman used to look so much better with her more natural hair colour. Yes, it seems to be that people do look better with natural hair colour. I spent years peroxide blonde but suit dark hair more. I also love the Crabtree and Evelyn hand cream range as well. I am going to have to try this Trilogy Range! Great to meet another reader!
