At the risk of sounding completely superficial (and no disrespect to the poor polar bears), one good thing about global warming is that anything goes when it comes to what we wear. Strappy shoes in autumn? Sure. Frocks in winter? Yep. Smoky eyes in spring? Easy. Berry lips in summer. Why not? Especially when Yves Saint Laurent launches its Autumn/Winter collection when it’s technically no longer winter in this country. Anyway, why let an old-fashioned beauty rule get in the way of a makeup must-have? There are some gorgeous new Collector Powders for the face and eyes ($90 each) but stand-outs are the Rouge Pur Lipstick in #140 Purple Velvet, a luscious deep berry, and the Eyeliner Moiré in #9 Emerald Reflections ($59), a slinky sexy little jade-hued liquid liner. If you can’t quite face the thought of wearing wintry shades in spring, go for the Rouge Pure Shine Lipstick in #31 Tuxedo Pink ($48), a fuchsia that’s fabulous enough to wear all year long.
