Beauty and intoxicants have an interesting history.
Yves Saint Laurent launched a fragrance called Champagne back in 1993 (it’s now been renamed Yvresse – a play on the French for drunkenness - because of the laws covering the use of the word Champagne). Fellow French beauty brand Caudalie (not available in Australia at the moment) launched a whole industry and obsession when it found that grapeseed extract, a by-product of wine production, was high in anti-ageing antioxidants. And Italian bath and body range, L’Erbario Toscano, now has a deliciously indulgent red wine collection (click here for details).
And then there are the illegal kinds of inspiration. The Body Shop has a best-selling Hemp range, American brand Fresh (a must-stock-up-on when you’re next in the US, the sugar scrubs are incredible) has a couple of cannabis scents, and Mecca Cosmetica is bringing out the Malin & Goetz Cannabis candle in a couple of months.
I bring this all up – ironically in my detox week – because Too Faced has a new lipstick that I’m a little obsessed over. It takes a lot for a lipstick to get my attention, because I’m such a gloss kind of girl. But this one – the Lip of Luxury ($34 from Kit) – is so gorgeously creamy - and how can you resist the cutely named shades (Marcia Marcia Marcia, Centrefold, Sex Kitten) and the pink jewel-topped tube. But what really hooked me was the promised of a formulation ‘infused with Champagne essences.’ It’s meant to have a pink Champagne taste and I think it actually does – or maybe that’s just my detox talking.

Teh heh. I had my first cup of green tea in over a week cause person I work with got us those cute little Buddha’s eyes tea balls. I’m spinning round in circles.
