Hate to tell you, but most of it will just come right back off again. Gradual tanners are only half the strength of regular tanners (at the most), so scrubbing and shaving can undo all that good work. Which is why it’s generally recommended to apply gradual tanners on a daily basis.
You can, nevertheless, try to limit wear and tear by exfoliating only once a week (say, with a salt scrub, to even out any build-up and prepare skin for a new week of tanning). And making sure not to shave immediately after application (an especially good tip if you have irritation-prone skin). A good routine to get into is to shave in the morning (or every second morning) and to gradual-tan at night, to allow your tan to deepen as much as possible. A bit of a drag when you just want to tumble into bed, I know, but it’s always nice to wake up looking like you’ve had ten hours’ sleep in some tropical island resort.
