All-Time Top Buy: Chanel Joues Contraste ($68 from department stores). The perfect blusher – so silky, pigmented and the colours always look like they come from within, even if they aren’t a colour one would normally blush. My favourite shade is Turbulent, which is the perfect girlie, sweet yet sophisticated pink flush.
Other Beauty Essentials: Shu Uemura Brow Pencil in Seal Brown ($30 from David Jones Sydney and Melbourne) is the perfect brow finisher – unique waxy texture that makes your brows look naturally fabulous and never fake… Make Up For Ever Lift Concealer ($39 from Media Makeup) layers wonderfully for those hideous under eye circles. I find it works really well on my eyelid area too – which is quite transparent and vein-y… As for lipstick. I personally love high end brands like Chanel as nothing feels more luxe than whipping out a nicely packaged lippie! But I also adore Australis Moisture Intense Lipstick ($9.95 from pharmacies), which is beautifully creamy and packaged in a chic deep crimson metallic tube.

Next on the Shopping List: Chanel Joues Contraste in Rose Dust and Rouge Allure Lipstick in Surprise ($46). I also want to try more Becca especially the Crème Blushes and Pressed Shimmer Powders (available from Adore Beauty).

Best Beauty Bargain: Lucas’ Papaw Ointment (from around $4, from pharmacies) is perfect to prep lips before lipstick application, great for cuticles and I even use it to groom my brows on occasion. Nivea Crème ($6.80 from pharmacies) is another wonderful buy. Cheap as chips and perfect as a facial cream (only use a little and press it into slightly damp skin), eye cream, body cream for any particularly dry areas and as a hand cream too.
Biggest Beauty Splurge: Lipstick may not seem worth it, given the abundance of cheap and decent formulas from lower end brands but you can get much more unique colours and beautiful packaging from higher end labels.  Lipstick is the perfect boost you are feeling blah and they always look so pretty on a vanity or, as occurs more frequently, building up in my handbag. Blush is always worth splurging on too. Often you will get higher quality formulas that wear longer and apply more evenly.
Top Beauty Tip: Groomed eyebrows and a bit of concealer around the eye area always works wonders – it will instantly make you look more polished and awake.

Latest Trend to Love: Grey smoky eyes. They can be more subtle for the day and it is more flattering for fair gals like me than a black eye look.
Dirty Beauty Secret: Obsessive eyebrow tweezing – I keep Tweezermans on my bedside table and if I see an errant hair I absolutely have to tweeze it, no matter how tiny it may be.

PS: Winners of last week’s De Lorenzo comp: Amanda Diggins, Jasmine Nelson, Maria Pennisi, Bridget Ninness and Pamela Elligate. Congrats! You’re in for one good hair summer.

  4. Thanks gals :) I use really basic skincare, just QV Gentle Face Cleanser, Nivea Sensitive Balance Cream and Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Solution to exfoliate.

  6. Thanks, Jessica. Some great tips there. I’m also a fan of lipstick over gloss and the Chanel blush sounds great. Your skin and eyebrows are amazing so you must be doing something right! x
