I shave my legs and even when the skin feels smooth, it looks like I have stubble – why?

Do you exfoliate the skin here? Even though shaving has its own exfoliating action, it’s also important to use a body scrub once or twice a week. Get into the habit of doing so a few minutes before you shave – this will give you even smoother results. You could also try applying a body cream featuring hydroxy acids for a few weeks, just to help break down any excess dead skin. Try Palmer’s Skin Smoothing Lotion with Alpha/Beta Hydroxy ($9.95 from pharmacies). In the future, you might also want to apply a body oil to legs daily. The oils will not only help to soften rough skin, but will also give a more aesthetically pleasing finish. Try Renée Satin Shimmer Dry Body Oil ($59 from Adore Beauty).

  1. i have a similar problem, exfoliation pre shave and moisturiser help, but the problem is really one of having skin so pale the upper layers are actually translucent, combined with brown hair.

waxing is really the only way to go to fix this. or if you’re like me and get such bad in-growns from waxing that you have to shave, a bit of fake tan goes a long way!
