The Big Beauty Hang-Up

October 30, 2008

I’ve spent the past few mornings practicing my handstands. Mostly because I have only two-and-a-tiny-bit-more months to make sure I make one particular resolution resolve itself (see Monday). But also because I’m convinced it’s an amazingly anti-ageing thing to do.

I don’t know if it has been scientifically proven that inversions halt the ageing process - by increasing circulation up top, thereby pumping up collagen production, or something like that – but many yogis insist that hanging upside down every day will keep your skin baby-soft and Buddha-smooth.

And apparently so does Eva Mendes – I just read that she lies upside-down on one of those slant boards (that muscle men do weights on) for twenty minutes a day. She’s 34, and she looks like this – so she must be doing something right.

  1. I used to be able to do handstands perfectly when I was younger! I should give it a try. I’m a bit worried I might knock a few holes in the wall trying though. Good luck with your resolutions Kat :)
