Hairspray??? I have never ever heard of hairspray being used to seal makeup in. It’s kind of inspired but very scary at the same time! Okay so first thing, throw out that hairspray – or at least get it way away from your skin.
Next thing, let’s deal with those pimple scars – once they’re gone, you won’t need to fret about foundation as much. I’d recommend seeing a skin clinic for a course of peels and microdermabrasion, which tend to be good for darker skins, and much less likely to cause post-inflammatory pigmentation (the last thing you need) than any laser work. Just make sure you go somewhere with good word of mouth – and don’t be shy to ask to see their books of before & after work. It’s really important that you research to find the right clinic, machine and operator for you.
And lastly makeup - I’d recommend trying Becca, which covers an incredible spectrum of skintones – there’s a staggering 30 shades to choose from so I have no doubt you’ll find your match. The big seller is the Luminous Skin Colour, but this is a tinted moisturiser, so I’d say you’ll need to upgrade straight to the Stick Foundation, and possibly also add in a Concealer, a duo compact of two pigment strengths, one half being for more heavy-duty work. Click on Becca to locate your nearest counter, then go and get a professional matching and makeup lesson.
Let us know how you go – good luck!
PS: I realise it has been a bit of a Becca love-fest lately, but I just worship this brand when it comes to base.

I have also heard of hairspray being used to seal in foundation and powder.
Apparently, it’s very effective!

i’ve never tried it on my face but it works a treat for drawings, especially any done in pencil or charcoal… and i guess make-up is really just drawing on your face!

I read somewhere that using hairspray on your face isn’t a great idea, especially since the ingredients/chemicals are probably not suitable for anything but your hair.
the article went on to suggest ModelCo’s airbrush makeup thingy - something that comes in a can?
I can’t quite remember details - Kat, maybe you know what I am talking about?
