That was what I overheard in the Madison office yesterday, in what would have been a serious case of parallel beauty universe (the same world where Jennifer Aniston is pregnant with twins, yet looks like her tummy contains no more than half a dinner roll). For the record, Lindsay hasn’t lopped off her hair (as far as I can google), and has told US Harper’s Bazaar that she’s not a lesbian, but is perhaps bisexual.
Am I generalising or do female power couples tend to consist of one partner with super-cropped hair, and another with long Rapunzel ripples? You know, there’s Samantha and Lindsay, Ellen and Portia … and … um … okay maybe I was generalising. But it’s most definitely a strong cliché and Lindsay and Portia are doing a lot for the long-haired lesbian cause. In fact, when so many other straight celebs are chopping their hair (Gwyneth being the latest to go even shorter), long girlie hair could be fast becoming the new kind of sapphic signature (hmmm Madonna, do you have something to tell us?).
So perhaps, after all, when Lindsay does cut that hair of hers, we’ll know she’s gone straight again.
