Warning: this one requires a little preparation and some serious strategy. I’m way too lazy to do this most of the time, usually opting for little more than a smear of tinted moisturiser, but on the days when I do need my base to last, here’s what I do …
Exfoliate. Even by just mixing a dollop of scrub into my morning cleanser, I get a smoother, better surface for foundation to cling to.
Prime. My cheeks can get a little dry and chapped, so I smooth a little primer over my moisturiser, and it gives a great canvas to paint from.
Brush on Base. By applying foundation (a medium-coverage, liquid one) with a synthetic bristled brush, you get good stick and set. I tend to use Yves Saint Laurent Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation ($78 from department stores) when I want flawless coverage.
Powder. A light dusting of powder (whether translucent, bronzing or light-reflecting) locks it all in. You could also try a setting spray if you want even greater beauty peace of mind – try Kryolan Ultra Setting Spray, $31, see Kryolan.

and not hairspray!!!!!!!!
