Reader of the Week #17

November 14, 2008

Name: Tegan

From: Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Beauty Signature: The ‘no makeup’ look that can take up to an hour to perfect!

Beauty Icon: Blake Lively is my new girl crush of the moment! She always looks so healthy and glowing and I’m partial to blondes, of course!

All-Time Top Buy: Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara ($34 from Clinique) … love, love, love.

Other Beauty Essentials: Nude by Nature mineral makeup (see Nude by Nature), Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub ($10.99 from pharmacies) and Alpha-H Purifying Clay Mask ($33.95, call 1800 659 777 for stockist details).

Next on the shopping list: A new fragrance for summer. Maybe Estée Lauder Sensuous (from $80, from department stores).

Best Beauty Bargain: Garnier Body Summer Express Spray Moisturising Mist ($9.49, from pharmacies). It smells great (of apricot oil) and develops into a nice light, even tan for all those fair-skinned gals like me. Also Nivea Tinted Moisturising Day Cream ($9.99 from pharmacies) and good old tea tree oil for pimples.

Biggest Beauty Splurge: Everything beauty related, considering I’m on a student budget! But my most recent splurge was Becca’s Mineral SPF Primer ($68 from Adore Beauty). I’m not sure that it’s the best primer I’ve ever used but I definitely like the SPF 30 component. It has a lovely vanilla smell that lingers under your nose all day

Top Beauty Tip: Rub a concentrated moisturising cream into rough spots (knees, elbows, feet) before applying any tanning products.

Latest Trend to Love: I know it sounds cliché but definitely the return of the bronze body and face for summer.

Dirty Beauty Secret: Letting my toe nails grow too long. I can’t believe I just admitted to that!

PS: Winners of last week’s Grown competition: Melissa Bentley, Caroline Gunnulson, Simone Tang, Vickii Nicholls, Joanne Flower, Karl Osbual, Helen Fox, Caroline Hoestmaelingen, Pamela Elligate and Lisa Chhour.

  1. Nice to meet you Tegan. I’ve been curious about the Nude by Nature range. Is it drying at all? and what is the coverage like?

  2. Hi Mel :) I definitely don’t find the Nude mineral make up drying. That said I find it best to apply lots of moisturiser before any mineral make up. I love the coverage. It covers all my red spots and pimples but doesn’t look caked on whatsoever.

  3. Thanks for all the tips, Tegan! Will have to look up the Nude by Nature, it’s new to me. Love your other product faves too.
