You could simply use your regular concealer and a dusting of translucent powder on lids (and then follow up with your regular eye makeup), but if you have the cash to spare, you can try a primer that has been formulated for this specific area. Laura Mercier does the best one – called Eye Basics and $42 from Adore Beauty. It’s available in several shades, to deal with various discolouration issues, and in a cream that sets to a semi-matte finish to both control oil and create a great canvas for smooth and long-last lid colour.

Any old mattifying primer works well for this purpose too.

Hi Kat,
The skin on my eyelids seems really thin and the veins are quite noticeable. Will a product like this help at all, even if I’m not wearing eye shadow? And would you be able to recommend a colour (I think i would be either peach or pink) ?
Thanks. x

Hi Lyss - This has good pigment density so should definitely cover up the veins and any other discolouration. Perhaps best to go to a Laura Mericer counter and find your best shade - if you call 02 9663 4277, they will be able to locate your nearest LM counter for you. Kat x
