Name: Suzi
From: Melbourne
Beauty Signature: Shimmering skin, lots of long dark hair, dash of red lipstick with a smile. Plus one spritz of Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille ($150 from Mecca Cosmetica).
Beauty Icon: Blair Waldorf AKA Leighton Meester. Always has fantastic skin, never over-the-top and when she wears a red lipstick she really rocks it. I also adore the contrast of her hair and skin - something I’m a tad too tanned for, but a girl can dream.
All-Time Top Buy: Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl ($66 from Adore Beauty) - lights up your face like nothing else, and the tube lasts forever. Opal is also brilliant for a more sunkissed look, and a daub of Rose Quartz on the apples of my cheeks adds subtle pink shimmer.
Other Beauty Essentials: Jelly nail polish - Essie Jelly Apple ($16.95, call 02 9310 3379 for salon stockists) is a firm favourite. They take absolutely forever to dry and require about 3+ coats, but the effect is of a translucent, drop-dead shiny effect that wears exceptionally well. Additionally, Shu Uemura Hard Formula brow pencils ($30 from David Jones Sydney & Melbourne), which are newly available in Australia. The most natural brow product I’ve ever come across.
Next on the Shopping List: Definitely a couple of pieces from Poppy King’s new Lipstick Queen range (see Kit) - the Sinners look lush and I’ve missed the Shine lip pots!
Best Beauty Bargain: Ardell Lash & Brow Accelerator (from Priceline). I picked up a tube of this not expecting any real effect but for a mere $6.80 and one week’s use, the slightly-sparse section of my brow has totally filled in. I’m just waiting for a similar effect on my lashes!
Biggest Beauty Splurge: Guerlain Illuminating Météorites Pressed Powder ($115 from department stores) - glowy, natural loveliness. The amount of product justifies the cost in my opinion.
Top Beauty Tip: Try Milk of Magnesia (just a touch!) to prime very oily skin before foundation.
Latest Trend to Love: A bigger push in the direction of sun products. I’ve noticed a couple of new sunscreen lines, which is excellent as sunscreen not only helps protect from skin cancer but also fine lines and spots. Just an SPF in moisturiser/foundation is definitely not enough - sunscreen should be a daily staple.
Dirty Beauty Secret: I don’t do anything to my hair - just wash and condition. The sleek-lock look is definitely beautiful but my hair never behaves - so I let it go as crazy as it likes. Apparently bed hair is coming back - I say yay!
PS - Winners of the Davroe hair packs are: A. Wilkie, Fiona Hawkins, Larissa Toal, Rebecca Lewis, Wendy McKeon, Debbie Parry, Adela Maizey, Beth Healey, Nicole Whincup and Julia Ewings. Enjoy!

Nice to meet you Suzi. I love your look, it’s very unique and beautiful. Thanks for the tip about the Ardell lash and brow accelerator…I am definitely trying some of this! And where do you purchase Milk of Magnesia? I’ve never heard of it before

Tegan, Milk of Magnesia is super-hard to find. I actually use a tiny bit of Mylanta on a cotton pad and swiped over my oily t-zone. Milk of Magnesia is the main ingredient and is brilliant for oil absorption!

Hi Tegan-
Once upon a time I could find it in Priceline - but I’m told now it’s not sold! Mylanta is what some of the Voguettes use, I think, and just as good
Just avoid the flavoured varieties

suzi, i am jealous that your hair looks that lovely naturally. I have to work at my frizzy, coarse mop with my GHD and a million products to make it that nice!

Totally agree about the Guerlain meteorites powder, 100% splurge-worthy.

Suzi, your skin is radiant. I love the dark hair, red lips look. Oh, those big, big Shine pots! I remember them. They seemed to go on forever. My favourite PK was Indolence from memory. I love the MAC red lipstick, Russian Red. I really like dark hair and red lips. It’s so forties and glam. xx
