Short of going under the knife, there are only limited options for tightening skin. Cosmetic surgeons suggest a non-invasive treatment such as Thermage (click here for locations) or Titan (see Cutera) – these technologies work to heat the lower dermal layers, which in turn stimulates new collagen formation. Many cosmetic surgeons warn, however, that it’s not a knife-free face-lift (as has often been claimed in the press), and that effects aren’t necessarily immediate – skin-tightening may be gradual over six months.
Some other skin experts recommend facial massage as a great way to recontour the face – click here for a how-to.
In terms of skincare, there’s as yet no face-lift in a bottle, however peptides (as found in Olay Regenerist) and alpha hydroxy acids (championed by M.D Formulations – see True Solutions), which both have a collagen-stimulating effect, can have nice surface-smoothing effects.
